By now, you should be familiar with different types of screening tools we typically use in primary care to screen for health risks and risky behaviors. HEEADSSS psychosocial screening tool is very helpful in identifying potential red flags of development; the interview process begins with asking direct open ended questions addressing each item as specified in the HEEADSSS acronym. Once a red flag(s) is/are identified, a more in depth assessment should be performed using reliable and valid screening tools (i.e., CRAFFT questionnaire to screen for alcohol abuse; PHQ-9 to screen for Depression). For our DB this week, you will be required to do research on state specific laws on topics pertaining to the care of the adolescent. I live in Florida.
Topic: General Medical Care, Outpatient Mental Health Services, Rape Services (12 and older).
